Arrive by plane to Kavala airport "Megas Alexandros" From the Airport you can travel to Keramoti port or to Kavala port by taxi or bus. Keramoti port is much closer. Taxi prices depend on the traffic.
Arrive by plane to Thessaloniki International airport "Macedonia" Thessaloniki airport is the 2nd biggest airport in Greece. The city of Thessaloniki is about 165 Km away from Kavala. If your flight lands on this airport you can come to Kavala in several ways. The best and probably the cheapest way, is to rent a car from the airport. Often the car rental company can arrange car delivery in Thassos or in Kavala. The price depends on the type of car you are going to hire. Other way is to charge a taxi. There are plenty of taxi cars outside the arrival terminal of the airport. The price depends on the time of the day (eg after midnight it is more expensive) and the luggage you carry. Before you get in the car ask for the price and be sure that it will be no more than 100-120 euro. If so, rent a car... :-) By bus, things are more complicated since you have to change bus in the city of Thessaloniki (in front of the White Tower) approx. ½ hour far from the airport. The new Thessaloniki bus station is in the border of the city. You will buy your ticket to Kavala there; don`t worry about the time: From 6:00 to 22:00 there are buses to Kavala every hour. When the bus will reach Kavala, then you are 50 meters away from the port
Crossing the sea Reaching the port of Kavala, you can either take the ferry (if you have a car) and arrive to Prinos in approx 1h and 20 min, or take the flying dolphin and arrive to Limenas in approx 35 min. From Keramoti port you reach Limenas by ferry in 35 minutes.
I suggest you to print the ferry boat timetable and take it with you, so you can have always the chance for a better planning for your trip On the island Now you are on Thassos (Limenas) or Prinos. To reach your holiday destination you can use taxi or bus. Taxi is quite expensive and you should always ask for the price before getting in. Buses are quite cheap. You should print the bus timetable from my site or ask for a new timetable in Limenas Bus Station. The only problem is that very often (almost always) buses are not on time so you have to wait... :-)
